Four of my students and I played for the Santa Cruz County Symphony Homes Tour last month. The setting was spectacular, with the Pacific Ocean, beach and Santa Cruz's light house near the Harbor as a back-drop. The environment was just perfect for the seven-piece chamber ensemble, with glass window in front and back, allowing the sound to carry down the street. The East Cliff Drive serenity was outstanding for such a performance. The sunny day provided a warm atmosphere for this special event. Musicians and visitors alike enjoyed the opportunity to converge in one of Santa Cruz's finest and most sublime areas.
